Since our inception nearly 10 years ago, Phasor Health was founded by most neurosurgeons’ common thought upon seeing a hand-crank drill: “Why, in this century, is there still nothing better?” We realized we had to make the following groups happy (or happier):
Residents
A drill safe enough to use by novices (everyone was a novice once), with our anti-plunging device that offers 10-fold the anti-plunging protection (into brain) vs. convention, now vetted by 25,000+ uses;
Surgeons
Minimizing annoyance by creating the most complete cranial access kit and powered drill – so less “looking for things that should have been there” with less effort using a power vs. manual drill, and a more efficient procedure in the middle of the night when these cases seem to occur;
Hospitals
Appealing to the bottom line, by pricing comparably or lower than even manual hand-crank-drill-containing kits: by making it ourselves, we cut out the “middle man” and the price associated with it;
Patients
The common denominator for all use, the most important – with unparallelled anti-plunging safety (even rivaling so-called “self-stopping drills” since these can still be pushed into brain despite stopping), Phasor’s 50-pound-tested stopper and 25,000+ use track record speaks for itself.
Phasor has undergone 15 updates towards perfection since its inception in about 10 years, with the design now “frozen” due to its universal preference now for nearly 12 months. Each update was carefully undertaken upon reflection from experienced surgeons “in the front lines and trenches of patient care.”
Being a versatile company, it takes one common collaborative phone call between executive management, engineers, and others on our manufacturing team, to accomplish in hours, days or weeks what may take others months or years.
